We are incredibly excited to be offering a new tour to the beautiful Apukuna Tianan Sculpture Park!
The Apukunaq Tianan (meaning “Abode of the Gods” in Quechua language) sculpture park can be found at about a 45-minute journey from Cusco, in the Poroy district. Located at a high altitude, the site offers incredible views of the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. The park itself contains a beautiful collection of contemporary, giant stone sculptures carved directly into the side of the mountain.
Each sculpture created by Cusco sculptor Michael de Titan ranges between 49 and 56 feet (15 and 17 meters) in height and represents Andean gods and figures from various Inca creation myths. The park aims to represent a celebration of Andean culture, a place to connect to the ancient Apus, and to merge art and nature just like the ancient Inca did.
As we walk around together, you will learn more about the symbolism and mythology behind each sculpture piece including Tupac Amaru, the Puma, the God Wiracocha, the Pachamama, and more.
Include this in your Peru itinerary or join us on a Cusco half day tour of Apukunaq Tianan!
But you don’t have to wait, we are also are excited to be the first to offer virtual tours (completely live!) at this new site, join us from the comfort of your couch via the Heygo platform! The first date, a worldwide premier, is scheduled for the 24th August. We will be talking to the creator Michael and his team as well about his vision and his intention with this newly created attraction.
